YUSTE
The Emperor
Monastery of Saint Jerome of Yuste, is a historic monastery located in the province of Cáceres, in the region of Extremadura, Spain. Founded around 1402 by the Hieronymite order of monks, it was originally intended as a royal residence for the Duke of Alba. However, its historical significance grew when Holy Roman Emperor Charles V chose it as his place of retirement in 1556.
Charles V
Charles V was born in 1500 and died in 1558. He wasn't just the Holy Roman Emperor from 1519 to 1556, but also during this time the King of Spain, Archduke of Austria and Lord of the Netherlands. He had dominions from Germany to northern Italy, that was the Holy Roman Empire, and also Spain where he had possessed the southern Italian kingdoms of Naples, Sicily and Sardinia. Apart from this Charles V oversaw the continuation of the long-lasting Spanish colonization and the short-lived German colonization in America.

Final year
Emperor Charles V, one of the most powerful rulers of his time, retreated to the monastery seeking peace and seclusion after abdicating the throne. The plan was to live in the Monastery de Yuste for many years, but unfortunately Charles V became very after almost a year in the monastery. He then passed away in September 1558 at 58 years old.
He spent his final year here until his death in 1558.
